Jeppesen NavData Databases

This page is a reference to help you if you are upgrading your PDA to the latest Jeppesen NavData database.

More Information

The Jeppesen NavData database contains the following information;

Airfields
Runway - Designators, length & width
Frequencies - Approach, Tower, Ground, ATIS
ILS - Frequency & Ident
Navaids - VOR, VOR/DME & NDB
Intersections
Airspace - Class A to G, Special Use Airspace (Warning, Danger, Restricted, Prohibited, MOA), Airways (upper / Lower or jet/Victor)

1. Pre-requisites

You need a Windows PC in order to use the JSUM application for updates.

The update process requires you to have installed the Jeppesen Services Update Manager (JSUM) application to your PC. If you haven't already got this, then please download it from the Jeppesen website.

You must have set up your PC so that it HotSyncs correctly with your PDA. Consult your PDA's user documentation or the Palm website if you are unsure how to do this.

2. Getting an account with Jeppesen

You will need an account with Jeppesen, and to do this you need to call them. Jeppesen will take your payment details and will give you a username and password which you can use with JSUM.

3. Download NavData using JSUM

The following help is available for JSUM:

Run the JSUM program, and then login to JSUM using your Jeppesen username and password. Select your download and click 'Start'.

4. Package Installer & Hotsync Process

After the download finishes you will see the Package Install Tool.

Select the correct HotSync user ID and click 'OK'. Then HotSync your PDA - this will install the NavData databases to your PDA.

Verify the installation by running FlightMaster and checking the cycle number on the NavData information which appears.

Midwest Sport Aviation, LLC Named US and Canada FlightMaster Distributor

Midwest Sport Aviation, LLC has been named the US and Canada Distributor for FlightMaster, an Aviation GPS software solution for PalmOS based devices. In an effort to expand FlightMaster presence, The developer of FlightMaster has requested our services to market FlightMaster in the US. As a result of this, AeroPalm will no longer be available. All existing customers of AeroPalm will be given a free migration to FlightMaster so as to transition our customers to FlightMaster. As well, AeroPalm users may continue to utilize AeroPalm with the free database that is available from Navaid.com.

It is important to note however that the only way to get current airspace is to migrate to FlightMaster and then purchase a Jeppesen NavData update for FlightMaster. FlightMaster is largely similiar to AeroPalm but is at a more advanced stage.
